In honor of Veterans Day, the nature center is inviting the public to visit its Heckscher Farm on Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and discover its farm veterans.

Activities include identifying the oldest trees in the forest, learning how to read a "tree cookie," and finding out which animals in the forest live the longest.

You can also take a trip back in time and explore how farm veterans worked on early New England farms, and even make your own butter.

The day is free for any veteran with identification.

Admission to the Stamford Museum & Nature Center is $10 for adults and $6 for students and free for members. It is located at 39 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford. Click here for its website
