The inaugural event will take place on Friday, Feb. 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Stamford Innovation Center. The agenda includes several “TEDtalk” style presentations and a panel discussion featuring leaders from some of the top companies in the greater New York City area, including Laurence Vigeant-Langlois, director, Business Development & Technology Partnerships at Sikorsky Innovations, Bernie Gracy, vice president, Strategy, Digital Commerce Solutions at Pitney Bowes Software and John Lim, CEO of Life in Mobile.
The goal of “Smart in the Suburbs” is to create an opportunity for the technical and business community to come together to celebrate local talent at some of the innovative and leading local companies.
“In our first year, we’ve had the privilege to meet leaders of large and small companies,” said Peter Propp, CMO at the Stamford Innovation Center. "While we are excited about our future as a startup community, we want to celebrate our heritage as a region creating breakthrough solutions to significant business challenges. We believe Smart in the Suburbs puts the successes of our region in perspective.”
As an example, the Pitney Bowes presentation is titled: "From Meters to Tweeters - How a 94 year old company exploits natural adjacencies to create client and shareholder value in the Digital Age."
