Karyn Ward of The Ashforth Company and City Chic chair, presented Rogers with the “Guardian of the Community Award,” at the event, held on Thursday, March 12, at The Palace Theatre. Rogers has served on the Club’s board of directors for the past 25 years and is a past president of the board.
“When Rogers first became involved at the Stamford Boys & Girls Club, they did not even have a clubhouse. During his tenure on the board, the Club built its own facility, expanded programming to include more than 50 year-round, multi-faceted developmental programs serving 1,500 children, and has become fully integrated with the Stamford public schools to make a measurable difference in the lives of many Stamford schoolchildren,” said Ward. Rogers was recently named 2014 First Niagara “Volunteer of the Year” for the Tri State Region.
Robert Hartt, of Hartt Realty Advisors, Stamford Boys and Girls Club’s board president, presented the “Corporate Partnership Award” to Elbaum and Robinson & Cole LLP.
“Steve has served on our Executive Committee for the past ten years, including being our Board President for two years. Not only does he help us by applying his business acumen, but he also exhibits a passion for our kids that is palpable and contagious. Steve has also provided us with volunteer lawyers to help us with many of our legal needs. We are very lucky to have him on our Board,” said Hartt.
City Chic 2015 presenting sponsors were GE Asset Management, GE Energy Financial Services and The Ashforth Company.
Christine Larsen, Stamford Boys & Girls Club’s chief development officer and event director, said this year’s event was the most successful yet, with 80 sponsors and advertisers raising $275,000 in net profit for the Club’s after school programs.
Larsen praised GE and The Ashforth Company for their longterm support of the Club and this fundraiser, which has significantly grown in the past four years from raising $80,000 in net profits to $275,000.
