Pelley is also managing editor of the "CBS Evening News" and is a correspondent for "60 Minutes." He has won the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Silver Baton, three George Foster Peabody awards, 20 national Emmy awards, five Edward R. Murrow awards, a George Polk and a Loeb award, said a statement from the New Covenant House of Hospitality.
“He has worked nationally and abroad and has reported from the White House, the devastating aftermath from the World Trade Towers as well as from the war-torn countries of Iran and Afghanistan. We are looking forward to hearing what he has to say at the fundraiser,” said Phil Shalala, chairman emeritus of the New Covenant House of Hospitality.
The money raised will help serve the hungry in lower Fairfield County by funding the soup kitchen and the food pantry programs it runs daily, a statement said. “This year, because of the depressed economy, we need help more than ever,” said Michelle Bella, co-chairwoman for the event.
Tickets are $200 per seat, and $3,000 to $10,000 for corporate sponsor tables. Checks can be made out to New Covenant House Breakfast and sent to NCH, 90 Fairfield Ave., PO Box 10883, Stamford, CT 06902.
The event will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. April 23 at the Woodway Country Club in Darien.
