The group is looking for volunteers to act as bike parking scouts to identify locations in local neighborhoods that need bike parking. Email info@peoplestamford.org if you are willing to scout your neighborhood and record major destinations or places where bikes are usually locked onto trees, signs, fences, or other spots.

People Friendly Stamford is coordinating with community members and Rippowam School to take part in CT DOT’s Safe Routes to Schools Program. Through the program, engineers visit the neighborhood, conduct a walking audit and provide a report with recommendations for the city and school.

The city began painting the Sharrow network within a mile of the train station and on Hope Street in Springdale, and now the city has extended it out to West Avenue and Stillwater, up to Ridgeway Shopping Center, and the city also plans to extend the Sharrow network further in Glenbrook and Springdale.

People Friendly Stamford distributed over 200 bike lights this year thanks to the free bike light program. One hundred were given out at Bike to Work day in May, 50 were given out on the Monday Night Bike Rides throughout the summer and another 50 were given to Neighbors Link Stamford.

Next year, the City of Stamford and WestCOG will launch a citywide bicycle and pedestrian study.

Cask Republic is located at 191 Summer St.
