Nationwide Public Health Alert Issued For Ground Beef Products Due To Possible Contamination
Ground beef products distributed nationwide may be contaminated with E. coli and should not be consumed, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. FSIS has issued a Public Health Alert on Saturday afternoon, April 20.warning consumers about the issue. A recall was not requested because the products are no longer available for purchase. Nearly 5,000 pounds of a boneless beef product shipped to the East Coast are being recalled due to potential E. coli contamination. Colorado-based JBS USA Food Company is recalling approximately 4,860 pounds of imported boneless beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced this week. New E. Coli Outbreak From Bison Sickens Nine In New York, One In Connecticut
The Centers for Disease Control, U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Canadian Food Inspection Agency are investigating a multi-state outbreak of E. coli that has been linked to ground bison products. On Tuesday, July 16, Northfork Bison Distributons, Inc. announced that it is recalling bison produced between Feb. 22 and April 30 this year. The recalled products were sold to distributors as ground bison and bison patties, which were referred to as bison burgers or buffalo burgers. More than 14,000 cases of a popular all-purpose flour product are being recalled due to concerns of E. coli. The FDA announced that ADM Milling Company is voluntarily recalling 14,218 cases of five-pound King Arthur Inc. Unbleached All-Purpose Flour due to the potential presence of E. coli. According to the FDA, the recalled products were distributed through retailers and distributors nationwide. A manufacturer is voluntarily recalling approximately 8,757 pounds of ready-to-eat salad products that may be contaminated with E. coli, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. The ready-to-eat salad products were produced from April 9, 2018 to April 12, 2018 by Fresh Foods Manufacturing Co. of Freedom, Pa., and have a shelf life of four days.
