Eversource Preparing For Power Outages, Downed Trees As Storm Intensifies In CT
As a strong storm system brings gusty winds and heavy rain to Connecticut, Eversource is preparing crews to respond to any power outages, downed trees, or other damage caused by the weather.
The storm system, which arrived on Wednesday, Feb. 28, is bringing powerful wind gusts of 25 to 25 miles per hour to the state and is set to continue overnight into Thursday, Feb. 29, according to predictions from the National Weather Service.

A Connecticut man who was allegedly high on heroin has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a tow truck driver who had stopped to help a woman change a tire on a busy highway.

Two Connecticut police officers who were gunned down and killed when responding to an apparent domestic dispute may have been lured to the home by a fake 911 call.
Bristol Police Sgt. Dustin DeMonte, age 35, and Officer Alex Hamzy, age 34, both young fathers, were killed and 26-year-old Alec Iurato was injured, around 10:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 12 in a residential neighborhood in Bristol, said the Connecticut State Police.

Woman In Distress Swimming Rescued From Long Island Sound
Emergency responders rescued a woman who was in distress while swimming in the Long Island Sound.
The incident happened early Sunday morning, July 18 in Suffolk County, off Shoreham Beach in Shoreham.
A woman called 911 to report that her friend, Johanna Scheiber, 21, of Sayville, was swimming in the sound and the caller, who was on Shoreham Beach, lost sight of Scheiber at approximately 6:50 a.m.
