Scam Warning: New Alert Issued For Unsolicited Apple Phishing Calls
Police agencies are issuing warnings of a new Apple scam that has been making the rounds targeting iPhone users. A new alert has been issued cautioning that users have been receiving phone calls from fraudsters who make the call from a spoofed number that comes across the screen as “Apple.” According to police, you’re told that your account has been compromised or some other issue exists with your iPhone, laptop or other devices. Scam Alert: iPhone Users Warned Not To Answer This Type Of Call
Scammers are running a sophisticated scheme warning iPhone users that there has been suspicious activity on their iCloud accounts. The new scam involves fraudsters making phony calls posing as Apple support staff. The calls look authentic because an actual Apple support number from a local Apple number and Apple logo will display on the screen. The callers use spoofing technology to alter the numbers that show up on the caller ID. The schemers then go to work attempting to steal information about iCloud accounts and passwords. Lost Apple Watches Recovered In Candlewood Lake
Police officers who were training at Candlewood Lake made a special save this week. While conducting training operations at the lake, members of the Brookfield Police Department unearthed two missing Apple watches under approximately 25 feet of water, police said. Once the watches were located, it was determined that they were still operational, even after being lost at sea for two weeks. The watches have since been returned to their owners, police said.

CT Man Who Hacked Into More Than 200 Apple iCloud Accounts Sentenced
A Connecticut man is heading to prison after flying too close to the iCloud. North Branford resident George Garofano, 26, has been sentenced to eight months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to a computer hacking offense related to a phishing scheme that gave him access to hundreds of Apple iCloud accounts, several of which belonged to celebrities. STAMFORD, Conn. – Even though Stamford did not make it to the short list of possible locations for Amazon's second headquarters, city officials still see a silver lining and think that Stamford will make an appealing location for another major company.
