SHELTON, Conn. – Melissa Fenstermaker was named the Shelton School District's Teacher of the Year this week, according to the Connecticut Post.
Fenstermaker, a fifth-grade teacher at Perry Hill School, was named recently by the school board, the Post said.
After beginning a career as an insurance agent, Fenstermaker started out teaching in 2001, following in her father's footsteps, reported the Connecticut Post.
The selection process was a six-month journey, beginning in January and including writing an essay and various interviews, the Post noted.
