An annual report by the league , the "Environmental Scorecard" rates legislators based on their voting record for key pieces of legislation. In Kelly’s case the focus also included bills to support solar panel energy use and safer standards around the application of pesticides.
“Every legislator in our team of champions played a role in passage of key environmental bills this session,” said Lori Brown, the league's executive director. “Many also worked tirelessly behind the scenes to block bills that would roll back our environmental protections.”
“I am proud to have earned this recognition from the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters, which is an advocate for our environment,” said Kelly, who represents Stratford, Shelton and Monroe.
The passing of the Long Island Blue Plan, was done with votes from legislators on both sides of the aisle.
“We are striking a balance in the commercial and recreational uses of the Sound while preserving a vital resource,” Kelly added.
