An investigation is underway after a victim reported to police that a man stabbed him on I-84 in Connecticut.

Officers in Hartford County responded to a report of a stabbing victim in the area of Queen Street at I-84 in Southington at about 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, June 12, according to the Southington Police Department.

When police spoke with the victim at the hospital, he provided conflicting information about the location where the incident happened, reporting Southington, Plainville, and I-84, authorities said.

Police said the victim later told them that after he left a location in Southington, he traveled onto I-84 East when a gold Toyota Prius came speeding up behind his car close to his rear bumper and began speeding up and slowing down while turning the high beams on and off.

The victim said he felt a bump from the rear of his vehicle and turned his hazards on before pulling over to the shoulder of the highway, authorities reported.

The victim said the Toyota pulled up behind him, and when the victim exited his vehicle, the driver of the Toyota approached him and stabbed him in his left side, police reported.

The suspect then drove away from the scene, according to the report.

The victim told police the suspect was a white man in his 30s, who was wearing a camouflage ball cap, a camouflage hooded sweatshirt, and blue jeans, authorities said.

The victim said he called 911 after he was stabbed and then took Exit 32 off of the highway to await the arrival of police, the report from authorities said.

Police said the victim remains hospitalized.

Authorities asked anyone with information about the stabbing to call Detective Lopa at 860-378-1644.
