SHELTON, Conn. — Undercover officers arrested two Shelton residents on drug and weapons charges after they witnessed a hand-to-hand drug transaction downtown in the commuter parking lot at Canal and Cornell streets Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Officers found several individually wrapped bags of marijuana, several loose pills and a semi-automatic handgun in the 2:30 p.m. arrest, police said.

Ricardo Llera, 21, of Shelton was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, sale of a controlled substance, illegal possession and failure to keep drug in original container. He was held on $250,000 bond and will appear at Derby Court on Thursday.

Erminia Leite, 19, of Shelton, who was the driver of the vehicle that Llera was in, was charged with conspiracy to commit sale of a controlled substance. She was released on a promise to appear and given a court date of Feb. 10 at Derby Court.
