At about 1:30 p.m., Shelton Police received several 911 calls reporting the two-car accident on the road, also known as Route 110.
Fire, police and EMS staff responding to the scene determined that Samantha Monaco, 23, of Shelton, and Rosemarie Dwyer, 69, also of Shelton, were involved in the accident just north of Sikorsky and the Stratford border, police said.
Dwyer was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival, police said. Monaco was also taken to Bridgeport Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team was investigating. No charges had been filed as of Friday evening.
