Shelton Police Seek Source Of Heroin After Overdoses, Deaths

SHELTON, Conn. — Police are taking action after two drug-related medical emergencies within 24 hours in Shelton — and two overdose deaths in neighboring Derby.

Police in both towns are looking for the source of the drugs, according to a statement from the Derby police posted on the Shelton Police Department's Facebook page.

"As a public service announcement, the Derby Police Department responded to two sudden deaths caused from suspected heroin overdoses in the past 24 hours," said the statement from the Derby Police Department. "During that timeframe, the Shelton Police Department also responded to two medical emergencies suspected to be heroin related. Police are warning the public about this sudden increase in overdoses and fatalities associated with heroin use."

The Derby and Shelton Police Departments, along with other law enforcement agencies, are working together "to identify the source(s) of the heroin and proactively thwart any future incidents," the statement also said.
