Nicholas Szustecki, 30, was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools, police said.

Around 6 a.m., officers responded to a commercial burglary at Porky’s Cafe on Center Street. Surveillance footage there showed a man breaking through the door and stealing money from the cash register, police said.

At around 8 p.m., officers responded to an attempted burglary at Steller’s Garage on Bridgeport Avenue. The window was smashed, but it did not appear the suspect entered the business, police said.

An hour later, officers found a man matching the description on area business surveillance cameras on Howe Avenue and arrested Szustecki, police said.

He was held on $30,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 27. Additional arrests are expected, police said.
