Shelton Police, Fire and EMS personnel responded at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb 28, to a single-car crash on Bridgeport Avenue between Crown Point Plaza and Long Hill Cross Roads, police said.
The driver, Edmund Conklin of Shelton, was found on the roadway outside of the vehicle, police said. Conklin was transported to the hospital and later died of his injuries, police said.

Conklin was a senior at Shelton High School. Police have met with administrators there, and the Shelton High School crisis team has been enacted, police said.
Support will be offered Monday for fellow students on Monday at Shelton High, Superintendent Chris Clouet said in a statement.
"Sadly, I must communicate with all of you that a young man, a senior at Shelton High School, died today as a result of a car accident. More details will be forthcoming," Clouet said.
