Shelton Firefighters Teach Kids How To Stay Safe With Home Fire Drills

SHELTON, Conn. — The White Hills Volunteer Fire Co. joined forces with Griffin Hospital to celebrate Fire Prevention Week by teaching the kids of Shelton valuable lessons in safety.

The open house was held Saturday at the firehouse for people of all ages to learn more about fire safety. One of the main draws of the day was the Safe House, where kids could put their lessons to work and practice their Home Fire Drills.

"Don't wait — check the date!" was this year's motto for Fire Prevention Week, reminding everyone to replace their smoke alarms every 10 years.

Fire Prevention Week, which ran from Oct. 9 to 15, is a time to remind children of all ages and even adults about the importance of fire safety.
