Officers from the New Haven Police Department arrested 48 people and towed the vehicles while targeting suspected drag racing locations on Saturday, Oct. 12. Investigators located specific vehicles to determine which areas to target.
Police said that investigators spoke with business owners on Foxon Boulevard, where racers are likely to set up shop. All racers and spectators who entered a business lot in the area were arrested and charged.
According to police, McDonald's on Foxon Boulevard was the hottest spot, where most of the arrests were made. Charges included trespassing, unregistered vehicles and misuse of a marker plate.
In total, 47 adults and one minor were arrested. Each was issued a summons and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to respond to the charges.
