Man, 69, Dies After Jumping From Burning Building In Shelton

SHELTON, Conn. — A 69-year-old man found badly burned at the foot of a burning commercial building early Saturday in Shelton has died from his injuries, according to the Valley Independent Sentinel.

The fire, which fully engulfed the fourth floor of the building at 33 Hull St., was reported at about 5 a.m. Saturday, police told the Valley Independent Sentinel.

Randol Rios, a Shelton resident who worked for Machine Builders of New England on that floor, apparently jumped to escape the fire, the report said. He was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital, the Valley Independent Sentinel said.

A Shelton firefighter was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital, the story said.
