Firefighters Extinguish Blaze In Empty Factory Building In Shelton

SHELTON, Conn. — Firefighters from Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Company extinguished a small blaze Sunday afternoon in an empty factory building on West Canal Street, officials said.

The small fire was reported at a former chromium process company at 1:30 p.m. 

Companies 1, 4 and 5 and one Engine and Ladder Truck from the Derby Fire Department were dispatched to 113 W. Canal St. for smoke coming from the building. 

Units arrived and found light smoke coming from the second floor of a vacant factory. A small fire was found on the second floor and was quickly extinguished, according to a Facebook post from Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Co. 

Crews overhauled the area of the building and checked for extension of the fire. The incident was under control in about 20 minutes.
