Robert Attilio Mancini, 79, Shelton Resident

SHELTON, Conn. – Robert Attilio Mancini, of Shelton, died Tuesday, May 31 at St. VIncent’s Medical Center. He was 79.

He was born in Bridgeport on Nov. 12, 1936, son of the late Attilio and Quinta (Montessi) Mancini and was a longtime resident of Easton before moving to Shelton 13 years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a graduate of the Bridgeport Engineering Institute after attending classes for seven years in the evening. After graduation, he became the president of BEI Alumni. He was the chief engineer at Heim for 15 years. Later, he designed ball bearings for aircrafts for over 20 years with F.A.G. Bearings Corporation in Stamford and Danbury until his retirement.

He was a longtime member of the Easton Lions Club, where he served a term as president. He was also a member of Mill River Country Club for 28 years and Oronoque Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. He traveled around the world for business and pleasure. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Ernestine (Confaloni) Mancini, of 57 years; his sons, Robert Mancini, and his wife, Jane, and Thomas Mancini, and his wife, Ann; grandchildren, Sean, Jamie, Robby and Becky; and lifelong friends, Bonnie, Larry and Sammy.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton. Burial will follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association CT Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd., Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
