"This is an opportunity to recognize people who have done work on the library," Elspeth Lydon, director of libraries in Shelton, told Daily Voice. "One of the people we're recognizing to day is Michael Skrtic, a glass restorer who has done a lot of projects, has a great reputation, and is a very kind and generous man."

Lydon also praised the Murzyn Workshop, which did the custom woodwork on the glass panels, as well as Troy Piccirillo and Tony Carroll — both from the City of Shelton Maintenance Department.

"They worked on their hands and knees to restore the floor," Lydon said. "Debora Semonich also helped with a lot of elbow grease. And the Friends of the Library are helping with the reception - food and drink."

The reception also featured four students from Shelton High School who played flute for the small crowd.
