Shelton planners recently told Mike and Dan DeLuca, who closed their shooting sports store in nearby Monroe at the end of 2015, that they will need the OK from folks in the Huntington area of Shelton to run a proposed online firearms business, the Shelton Herald story said.

The DeLucas told the Shelton Planning and Zoning Commission that they would only be doing shipping and receiving and would not post any signs to eliminate possible foot traffic -- and for other safety reasons, the Shelton Herald reported.

According to the DeLucas’ website, mdshootingsports.com, Mike DeLuca first became interested in sports shooting when his father bought him a BB gun. He learned to shoot by targeting tin cans in his backyard, the website said.

Later on, he became a collector, and was especially fascinated by the guns of the Old West, including the classic Winchester and Colt revolvers.

Mike DeLuca is a pistol safety course instructor and a longtime member of the National Rifle Association, the website said.

A staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, he is also active in the gun rights arena.

Dan DeLuca, a self-described “wheel gun” man, is a hunting rifle expert, according to the website.

He said he is “extremely knowledgeable about Smith and Wesson revolvers. He collects vintage “Blue Streak” pellet guns, the website said.

Dan is also a pistol safety instructor and a member of the NRA.
