Swimming Areas Closed At 5 State Parks, Including Indian Well In Shelton

SHELTON, Conn. — The state shut down the swimming areas at five state parks — Indian Well State Park in Shelton — on Tuesday because of bacteria, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said.

In addition to Indian Well, swimming areas were also closed at Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth, Kettletown State Park in Southbury, Wadsworth Falls State Park in Middlefield and Wharton Brook State Park in Wallingford.

DEEP staff analyze water samples at the Department of Public Health Lab for certain bacteria. More tests will be conducted Tuesday.
