Lobster Shack, Known As 'Home Of The Whaler,' To Reopen On Beach In East Haven

Lobster Shack which calls itself "Home of the Whaler" is reopening on the beach in East Haven after serving as a summertime staple in its former location on the Branford waterfront.

Renovations are underway for opening in the second week of August, says a recorded message on their voicemail.

The menu feature lobsters, burgers and hot dogs. "The Whaler" is their signature lobster roll made with a half-pound of lobster meat which comes with lemon and butter on a toasted sub. Their "Lobster Roll" is the same setup with one-quarter pound of lobster meat.

Choices include The Lobster and Land" which is a grilled hamburger on a brioche bun with Havarti cheese and lobster and  "Hummel Dog" which is the New Haven-based Hummel brand. The dog comes split on a bun with chili.

The Shack also has burgers, corn chowders, and grilled clams.

The spacious restaurant has a signature look, red clapboard siding and gray awning with their red lobster logo. A pergola was installed to provide shade for outside seating. There's a spacious dining room with wood floor, tables, and chairs. There is wheelchair access, according to their Facebook page.

"Tables on the first floor and outside as well. We have a lower counter area for wheelchair access and a ramp," says a post.

Lobster Shack will announce its opening date on its Facebook page.

It is located at 3 Cosey Beach Ave.
