Winter Storm Warning Now In Effect As Snowstorm Approaches Ridgefield

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- There is now a Winter Storm Warning in effect for Fairfield County from Saturday at 6 a.m. until Sunday at 6 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service had issued a Winter Storm Watch earlier today.

The latest forecast calls for snow to start sometime after 10 a.m. on Saturday with accumulations of 3 to 5 inches possible during the day. Snow will continue till late Saturday evening before turning to sleet and then freezing rain after 1 a.m.

Snow accumulations between 5 to 11 inches are possible in Fairfield County, with highest amounts in Northern Fairfield.

Road conditions are expected to be hazardous.

Winds will be gusting out of the Northeast from 10 to 20 miles per hour with gusts up to 30 miles per hour. Temperatures will be in the lower 20s.

The snow is expected to move out of the area by Sunday with mostly sunny skies forecast for Sunday with a high in the mid 30s.
