Now, the bad news. Projected snowfall totals have increased.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday for Fairfield County.
Snow should begin sometime before daybreak Tuesday and become heavy at times during the morning before tapering off Tuesday afternoon.
Most of Fairfield County is now expected to receive between 3 and 5 inches of snowfall accumulation, with less near the coast, according to the National Weather Service. Parts of northern Fairfield County may receive 6 inches or more.
Temperatures should continue to climb Tuesday afternoon, to a high in the mid-30s, signaling the start of a welcomed warming trend.
The outlook for Wednesday calls for a chance of rain and snow showers before 10 a.m., then a chance of rain showers with a high in the 40s.
By Friday, the temperature could reach or surpass 50 degrees.
