No More Detour: Route 7 Reopens Early After Bridge Work Is Finished

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — Route 7 reopened to through traffic Sunday morning — a full day ahead of schedule — as work was completed on a bridge construction project.

The $3.5 million project to replace a bridge on Route 7 on the Ridgefield/Wilton border is now done, after six weekend closures for work. 

Route 7 had been scheduled to reopen Monday, Oct. 16,, at 6 a.m., according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

The small bridge carries Route 7 over the Norwalk River in Branchville, just north of Route 102 near the Little Pub and the train station.

The contract for the bridge work was awarded to New England Infrastructure Inc. for $3,489,712 on March 3, 2016. All the work is scheduled to be completed by Tuesday, Oct. 17.
