Pair Of Structure Fires Under Investigation In Fairfield County A pair of suspicious fires that broke out in Fairfield County buildings within hours of each other are under investigation, authorities announced. In Norwalk, shortly after 10 p.m. on Monday, March 14, first responders were dispatched to a vacant commercial building on West Avenue that left debris destroyed and was possibly set by vagrants, according to Norwalk Deputy Fire Chief Steve Shay. Former Firefighter In Fairfield County Sentenced For Dealing Cocaine A former Norwalk firefighter who pleaded guilty in December to selling crack cocaine out of the central firehouse was sentenced Thursday to three years in jail. Mark Monroe, 46, who was sentenced at the Stamford courthouse, was also sentenced to 10 years of special patrol after he has served the three years. Monroe was arrested in Norwalk in February 2017, after police said he sold an undercover officer three packages of cocaine weighing about 3.8 grams each.
