Residents across the Northeast were dazzled by the Northern Lights, visible Thursday evening, Oct. 10. The purple and pink lights were visible due to a Solar Storm, or a Coronal Mass Ejection from the sun on Tuesday, Oct. 8 which arrived in the area Thursday. "I got a text from a friend about 30 minutes ago," said Joe Jenkins, of Poughkeepsie, NY, "so I ran out and looked due north. You couldn’t miss it." A man wanted on an out-of-state warrant was arrested in Connecticut following a fight with officers that included him choking a police dog, officials said. Are you the next "American Idol?" The popular ABC singing competition is holding virtual auditions for the upcoming season this month and next. A 37-year-old man was struck and killed by a train in New Haven. The man was found dead around 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, along the tracks behind the New Haven Fire Department's training academy on Ella T.
