Monthslong Lane Closure Starts On Taconic State Parkway
There will be single lane closures for several months on the Taconic Parkway in Dutchess County as crews complete construction work in the area. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that beginning on Friday, Aug. 10, there will be single lane closures on the southbound lanes of the parkway between Route 44 and Route 55 in LaGrange. The closures are expected to last through Monday, Dec. 3. Officials said that motorists can expect delays in the area and should seek alternate routes, if possible. Photos: Car Fire Causes I-95 Delays In Fairfield County
Smoke could be seen billowing through the air on I-95 on Friday afternoon, when a car went up in flames on the side of the interstate in Norwalk. Crews worked quickly to knock down the flames of the fire, which sparked in the engine of a car and fully engulfed it at approximately 1:30 p.m., Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Shay said. The fire was swiftly put out and the driver was able to get away from the blaze without suffering any injuries. The front end of the vehicle was destroyed. Truck Crash Causes I-95 Traffic Nightmare In Fairfield County
A crash involving a truck carrying motor vehicles has caused a traffic nightmare on I-95 in Fairfield County after closing two southbound lanes that have just reopened. The crash, that also caused a fuel leak, took place at 10:09 a.m., and closed the left and center lanes between Exits 10 and 9 near Darien, officials with the Department of Transportation said Traffic has been backed up for several miles, causing motorists to wait more than an hour to reach the New York state line from Norwalk, a 16 miles distance. Expect Delays: I-95 Lane Closures Underway As Monthslong Project Starts
Lane closures for pavement and roadway inspections on I-95 started on Sunday, July 1, the Connecticut Department of Transportation said.The intermittent nightly closures, in both directions, will be in Greenwich and Stamford and continue until Nov. 15.
