On Wednesday, Aug. 7, thunderstorms swept through the area, bringing lightning, thunder, toppling trees and taking down power lines. During that storm, Greenwich firefighters responded to two residences that appear to have been struck by lightning. Severe Storms Knock Out Power To Hundreds In Ridgefield Hundreds of Fairfield County residents were left in the dark on Wednesday afternoon as intense thunderstorms struck the area. As of 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Eversource was reporting nearly 139 outages in Connecticut, including several Fairfield County municipalities. Weston is reporting the most outages with 446. Ridgefield has 307 and Greenwich 242. Other outages were reported in Wilton, Westport, and Stamford.  Complete power restoration is expected before the end of the day to all municipalities.
