Missing Man Headed To Ridgefield Found
Update:
A Hudson Valley man who went missing after intending to go to a neighboring town in Fairfield County has been located, authorities announced.
Northern Westchester resident Robert Swern, age 64, left his residence in South Salem on Sunday, June, around 5 p.m. for a destination in Ridgefield, Connecticut, said the New York State Police.
He never arrived. Investigative steps thus far have placed him near Brewster around 6 p.m., and White Plains around 8 p.m. on Sunday, state police said.
On Thursday morning, June 9, state police said that he safely returned to his family.

Robert Durst Indicted For Murder Of First Wife, Westchester DA Announces
The Westchester County District Attorney announced that Robert Durst has been indicted for the 1982 murder of his first wife, Kathleen Durst.
Durst, age 78, was charged in an indictment on Monday, Nov. 1, with second-degree murder, District Attorney Miriam Rocah announced.
He is accused of murdering Kathleen Durst in the Northern Westchester hamlet of South Salem in the Town of Lewisboro on or around Jan. 31, 1982, Rocah said.
Durst was previously charged in a complaint filed on Oct. 19, with second-degree murder, the DA's Office reported.

Man Nabbed For Hit-Run Crash Involving Ridgefield Man, Police Say
A Northern Westchester man turned himself in to police on a warrant after he allegedly hit a bicyclist earlier this year in Fairfield County and then fled the scene.
Christopher Lynch, age 51, of South Salem, was arrested on Tuesday, July 13, and charged with improper passing and evading responsibility for the crash which took place on Wednesday, April 28 in New Canaan.
According to New Canaan Police, Lynch was driving northbound on Smith Ridge Road when he struck the cyclist who was also traveling northbound.

Jeanne Greenebaum, Longtime South Salem Resident, Lover Of Lake Truesdale, Dies At 98
Jeanne Greenebaum, a longtime resident of South Salem, died on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at the age of 98.
Known for her colorful winter coats and long walks around Lake Truesdale, her greenhouse on Lake Shore Drive on top of a long hill bordering the lake and her love of the South Salem Library, she will be missed by friends, family and neighbors. She and her husband Ira donated two Adirondack chairs to the Gilbert Street beach to remain by the lake when they moved away in 2003.

A three-alarm fire destroyed major portions of a home in New Canaan, officials say.
The home located at 322 Dan’s Highway went up in flames in the afternoon on Saturday, Nov. 16, reports New Canaan Fire Chief Jack Hennessey.
The fire, fueled by high winds, was extinguished to a controlled state with the help of fire crews from Norwalk, Wilton, Pound Ridge, South Salem and other areas, Hennessey said.
