19-Car Pileup During Height Of Storm Among Hundreds Of Crashes Reported In Region
This story has been updated. A 19-car-pileup during the height of the Nor'easter was one of numerous storm-related crashes in the region, although most motorists stayed off roadways. At least six people were injured in the multi-vehicle crash that shut down part of the Henry Hudson Parkway in upper Manhattan Wednesday, Dec. 16 during the evening hours as the snow was beginning to pile-up. Off-Duty Danbury Firefighter Rescues Man Trapped After Rollover Crash
A firefighter on his way to work did what most firefighters do in a flash, rush to help someone in need, no matter the circumstances. That's what happened on Sunday, Nov. 17, when Danbury Firefighter Jeff Nolet was driving on the Saw Mill Parkway in Westchester reporting for duty on his night shift, said James A. Gagliardo, spokesman for the Danbury Fire Department. Saw Mill Parkway Stretch, Route 22 Reopen After Crash, Downed Tree
This story has been updated. The southbound lanes of a stretch of the Saw Mill Parkway have reopened after a serious multi-vehicle crash. The crash occurred south of Exit 42 (Railroad Avenue) in Bedford at around 8:30 a.m. Nearby, Route 22 reopened in both directions after a downed tree and wires in the area of Route 138 in Lewisboro. There were also earlier delays on southbound I-684 just before 9 a.m. after a crash just north of Exit 8 (Hardscrabble Road) in North Salem) that is blocking the right shoulder. The New York State Thruway Authority has a simple message for motorists during the controlled demolition period of the old Tappan Zee Bridge. Stay away. Two Lanes On I-684 Reopen
This story has been updated. Two lanes on southbound I-684 have reopened after a crash toward the tail end of the Wednesday morning commute. The I-684 southbound incident occurred at the Saw Mill Parkway junction (Exit 5) in Katonah at about 8:30 a.m. An earlier crash led to the closure of the northbound lanes of the Taconic Parkway at Exit 23 (Bryant Pond Road) in Putnam Valley.
