Connecticut Sees Increase In Crashes Over New Year's Weekend FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Connecticut highways saw an increase in crashes over the New Year's weekend this year, including fatal crashes in Trumbull and Glastonbury, according to state police. The first fatal crash of the weekend occurred at around 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29 on Route 8 in Trumbull. William Pollock, 55, of Ansonia hit the back of a box truck and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
