Man Accused Of Shooting 8-Year-Old In Ear In Bridgeport During Drive-By A 23-year-old man has been accused of shooting an 8-year-old boy in the ear during a drive-by in Fairfield County. The incident took place in Bridgeport on Sunday, July 23 in the 300 block of Orchard Street. According to Capt. Kevin Gilleran of the Bridgeport Police, officers responded to the area around 11 p.m. after being alerted by ShotSpotter to 16 rounds being fired in the area and another for rounds on Spring Street. Poll: Crime Numbers Down In Bridgeport, Do You Feel Safer? The Bridgeport Police Department has reported that overall crime statistics throughout Connecticut's most-populated city have been on a decline in comparison to this time last year.  The most notable statistical decrease can be found in shooting incidents throughout Bridgeport, said Mayor Joe Ganim.
