Gas Leak Causes Evacuation Of North Salem High School, Middle School
A gas leak prompted the evacuation of North Salem High School and North Salem Middle School. The leak was discovered by officials at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, prompting the evacuation as crews went to work to investigate the cause of the odor that forced the evacuation. Boom Truck Tips Over, Nearly Crushing North Salem Home
A boom truck working on removing trees behind a North Salem home tipped over, hitting the structure. The incident took place around 10 a.m. Wednesday when the truck tipped over and landed on the corner of the Lakeside Drive house that was recently purchased by new owners, North Salem Police Lt. Andrew Brown said. "They were lucky the home wasn't crushed," Brown said. The truck from Osorio Tree Service apparently tipped while doing tree work and landed on the edge of the house. Truck Driver Treated At Danbury Hospital After Rollover Crash In Mahopac
The driver of a dump truck was hospitalized after a rollover crash that brought down a pole and power lines in Mahopac on Wednesday. The still-energized 13,000-volt wires above the wreck on Long Pond Road near Pleasant Road prevented first-responders from approaching or removing the loan driver from the truck, said Tom Beatty of the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department. By order of MVFD Chief Bill Nikisher, the road was closed to all traffic by Carmel Police, MVFD personnel and with the assistance of MFVFD Chief Brian Sacher.
