Shortly after 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, Avon High School in Hartford County was forced to evacuate, police said, when there was a report of the odor of natural gas in the building. The building was temporarily evacuated by first responders, and firefighters ultimately determined that the cause of the odor was from the school’s science classrooms.
