Covid-19: First CT Resident Diagnosed With South African Variant A Connecticut resident is being treated in New York City after being diagnosed with the South African strain of COVID-19. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont made the announcement on Monday afternoon, Feb. 15, noting the person was transferred from Connecticut to a hospital in New York after the diagnosis.
