Firefighter Falls Through Floor While Battling Blaze At North Salem Home A firefighter fell through a floor during the response to a blaze at a Northern Westchester residence. The blaze began on Tuesday, Oct. 29 inside the laundry room at a North Salem home on Nash Road, according to the Croton Falls Fire Department.  Arriving fire crews soon began dousing the flames with hose lines and started making their way inside. However, while firefighters were battling the blaze inside, one member fell through the floor, prompting a mayday transmission.  The firefighter was soon found, though, and removed from the building with minor injuries. Train, Tractor-Trailer Involved In CT Collision An Amtrak passenger train and a tractor-trailer were involved in a crash in Connecticut. The collision occurred in New Haven County at a railroad crossing on Sackett Point Road in North Haven at 5:50 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9.  North Haven Police said an investigation is underway, and commuters are asked to avoid the area and expect delays. Only minor injuries were reported, North Haven Police said. A train engineer was hospitalized. School Bus Crashes With Vehicle On CT Roadway One person received minor injuries during a crash between a vehicle and a school bus in Connecticut. The incident occurred in New Haven County around 7:30 a.m., Monday, May 20, at 38 Indian Trail in Waterbury. According to Lt. Ryan Bessette with the Waterbury Police, the school bus had 14 students at the time, and no injuries were reported by the bus operator or any of the students.  Bessette said the operator of the other involved vehicle was transported to an area hospital and treated for minor injuries.  The incident remains under investigation. Woman Hospitalized After Tree Falls On Merritt In Westport, Hitting Vehicles Amid Strong Winds Two cars were hit by a tree on the Merritt Parkway and another hit the tree as it fell in the roadway in Fairfield County amid very windy conditions. The incident occurred in Westport around 2:50 p.m. Monday, March 11, south of Exit 42, Connecticut State Police said. The three vehicles, a Toyota Corolla, a Toyota Sienna, and a Nissan Altima,  were traveling south on the parkway in the right lane when the tree fell, hitting the top of the first two vehicles. 2 School Buses Crash In Newtown Two people were injured when two school buses with students on board were involved in a crash in Fairfield County. The crash occurred in Newtown around 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 22 in the area of Boggs Hills Road and Sugar Street. According to Lt. Woman Injured In Road-Rage Incident, CT State Police Say Connecticut State Police are asking the public for witnesses to a case of road rage in which a woman was injured. The incident took place around 8:45 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14, on Route 8 near Exit 21 in Seymour in New Haven County. According to State Police, a woman driving a 2008 Hyundai Santa FE with a Massachusetts license plate got into the road rage incident with a person driving a gray-colored sedan with a Connecticut license plate with the numbers of "803."
