These Fairfield County Eateries Named Best Restaurants For Wine, New Rankings Say
Several Connecticut restaurants are the cream of the crop when it comes to their wine offerings, according to new rankings released by Wine Spectator.
A total of 36 eateries were recognized as winners of the 2024 Restaurant Awards released by Wine Spectator, a publication that serves as a leading authority on wine.

An elaborate phone scam duped a Connecticut victim into forking over more than $6,000 and almost cost them thousands more, police said.
Waldy Santiago, age 25, of Providence, Rhode Island, turned himself in at a State Police facility in Westbrook in Middlesex County on Wednesday, Oct. 25, in connection with the alleged scheme, according to Connecticut State Police.

18-Year-Old Killed In Single-Vehicle CT Crash
One teenager was killed and another injured in a single-vehicle crash in Connecticut.
It happened around 3:50 p.m. Friday, March 11 in the Town of Haddam when the vehicle, a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, was traveling southbound on Route 154, according to Connecticut State Police.
While negotiating a left curve n the roadway (south of Landing Road), the 19-year-old lost control of vehicle, police said.

Here's How Many Are Still Without Power Two Days After Rain, Wind Storm
More than 1,000 Connecticut residents are still without power two days after a series of storms ripped through the region, flooding the area, downing trees and power lines.
As of just before 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, about 48 hours after the storms began, Eversource was still working to repair outages that continue to impact 1,035 of its 1,279,556 customers. United Illuminating was also still working on one outage in Woodbridge that was affecting three customers.

Eversource utility crews are working to restore power to the tens of thousands of Connecticut residents who lost power during Monday’s storm.
Starting on Monday morning, April 13, thunderstorms packed with dangerous winds rolled through the region, felling trees and downing power lines throughout the state.
As of 5:30 p.m. on Monday, 46,338 of Eversource’s 1,279,556 customers (3.62 percent) in Connecticut were without power.

A pedestrian was struck and killed on a stretch of I-95 in an early morning incident, Connecticut State Police said.
Troopers were dispatched to the stretch of the interstate shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, where there was a report of a car that struck a pedestrian between exits 70 and 69 in Old Saybrook.
