A superintendent at one of the largest school districts in Northern Westchester has just announced he will be retiring. Andrew Selesnick has been in his post at the Katonah-Lewisboro School District since 2015, when he accepted the position after serving as principal at Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua. Beloved Former Katonah-Lewisboro Teacher, New Canaan Native Dies
A former teacher who worked for schools in both Northern Westchester and Fairfield County has died. Margaret "Peggy" Beccaria died on Sunday, Jan. 15 at the age of 85, according to her obituary. A native of New Canaan, Beccaria graduated from high school there before attending college at Western Connecticut State University. She then became a teacher in Stamford. Denise Marie Martabano Lupia (nee Edman) of Winter Park, FL passed away peacefully with a smile on her face on February 21, 2022 with her husband David Lupia by her side. She was 63 years old. She was born in Kingston, NY on July 1, 1958 to Donald and Noel Edman. Denise was the eldest of five children and grew up in Katonah. During her childhood, Denise discovered her passion for cooking and gardening, which she learned from her mother. Online Survey Seeks Feedback For New John Jay HS Nickname To Replace Indians
With their former “Indians” nickname on the way out, John Jay High School in Cross River is seeking the public’s opinion on a new moniker. The Katonah-Lewisboro School District released an online survey this week asking for members of the community to offer their input on the new mascot for John Jay High School and John Jay Middle School. Katonah-Lewisboro School District Switches To Wind-Powered Electricity
A school district in Northern Westchester has officially gone green. As of Friday, Feb. 1, all of the electricity used by the Katonah-Lewisboro School District will be from renewable sources, namely wind that is generated by turbines in Texas. The purchase of 100 percent green power was approved by the Board of Education last month at their Jan. 17 meeting.
