Beloved North Salem Town Employee, Firefighter Dies At 62 A much-loved town employee from Northern Westchester who spent more than two decades serving the public as a firefighter has died.  John Scott Parker, who worked as North Salem's Assistant Building Inspector and spent over 20 years with the Katonah Fire Department, died on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the age of 62 following a battle with cancer, according to his obituary.  Born in Sept. 1962, Parker was known for living his life to the fullest and always seeking new challenges to solve, his obituary said. Truck Flips, Spills Landscaping Equipment On Ramp Between Route 35, I-684 In Katonah Traffic on a highway on-ramp in Northern Westchester was slowed when a truck flipped over on its side and spilled landscaping equipment.  The crash happened on Saturday afternoon, June 3 when first responders were sent to the on-ramp between Interstate 684 north and Route 35 in Katonah for a rollover accident, according to the Katonah Fire Department.  Once arriving at the scene, first responders found that the driver had been able to get himself out of the truck, which had flipped onto its side.  The driver was then assessed for injuries while a safe zone was set up for fir…

Beloved Pizza Parlor Owner Victim Of Fatal I-684 Three-Vehicle Crash The beloved co-owner of Johnny's Pizzeria in Mount Vernon died in a car crash in Northern Westchester on Saturday, according to New York State Police. Maria Piscopo, 69, of Brewster, died around 1 a.m. during the fatal three-vehicle crash on I-684 in North Castle, said Trooper AJ Hicks. An initial investigation suggests that Joseph Piscopo Jr., 47, who was driving a 2001 GMC Denali, with Maria Piscopo in the passenger seat, was traveling northbound when he and rear-ended a 2001 Dodge Dakota, Hicks said.
