35-Year-Old Woman Charged With DUI After Driving Through Construction Zone In Meriden A 35-year-old Connecticut woman was arrested for driving under the influence after driving through a construction zone that was blocked.  The incident took place in New Haven County around 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1 in Meriden on I-691. Natasha Cabrera, of Meriden, was arrested after she drove onto an off-ramp at Exit 7 on I-691 that was visibly blocked with cones, lights, and police officers, Connecticut State Police said. I-691 Lane Reopens Following Single-Vehicle Crash Down Embankment This story has been updated. The right lane of I-691 has reopened following a crash that left one person with serious injuries. Connecticut State Police said the incident took place around 8:57 a.m. Tuesday, southbound near Exit 5 in the town of Meriden. The crash occurred when the driver, identified as Alexander Tenore, of Waterbury, lost control, hit a wire guardrail and ended up 60-feet down an embankment, state police said. The Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police are seeking the public’s assistance after finding a bird who had its wing broken by a metal pellet. On Tuesday, Aug. 21, an injured red-tailed hawk was found at a residence near the exit 4 ramp on I-691 and West Main Street in Meriden. The bird was taken to the Kensington Bird and Animal Hospital, where an x-ray found that a metal pellet had been embedded in its left wing, causing it to bring the ulna bone, police said.
