New Principal Named To School In Greenwich
Students at a school in Fairfield County will find a new principal roaming the halls this fall. Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones announced on Tuesday, May 9 the appointment of Marc Guarino as principal of Eastern Middle School, effective Saturday, July 1. Boy, 13, With Knife Arrested At Trumbull School Carnival, 2 Others Nabbed For Fighting
Police were kept busy at a school carnival, arresting three teens and breaking up fights in Fairfield County. The incidents took place in Trumbull at Hillcrest Middle School around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 14. Police responded to the school after being notified of a fight in which a 13-year-old pulled a knife during a fight with another teen, said Lt. Brian Weir, of the Trumbull Police. A Fairfield County middle school will be forced to close for the rest of the month after dozens were forced into quarantine due to possible COVID-19 exposure. Hillcrest Middle School in Trumbull has closed its doors for in-person learning for two weeks after 70 people were forced into quarantine the school announced this week, leaving them with an insufficient amount of substitute teachers to cover staffers forced to miss classes due to the virus. 19: New Positive Case Confirmed At School District In Fairfield County
There has been another newly confirmed COVID-19 case in a Fairfield County school district. Hillcrest Middle School Principal Bryan Rickert confirmed that there was a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis in Trumbull, though he did not disclose whether it was a student or staff member, citing privacy laws. The person with COVID-19 was last in the school building on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Rickert said that contact tracing began immediately, and any student who came into close contact with the person will be alerted on Wednesday, Sept. 16, while the building has been sanitized by the school’s custodians.…

Staples HS Welcomes New Principal
The Westport Board of Education has named a veteran educator to take over at the helm of Staples High School. The Board announced on Thursday that Stafford W. Thomas, Jr. will succeed Principal James D’Amico, who announced earlier this year that he was resigning to take over at his hometown high school in New Fairfield. Thomas will take over on July 1, when D’Amico’s resignation officially takes effect. He was unanimously approved by the Board at a meeting on Thursday, June 20. There is no shortage of Independence Day celebrations featuring fireworks in Fairfield County. At least 15 major fireworks displays are planned over the course of seven days, starting this weekend.
