A storm system headed to the region will bring heavy downpours at the tail-end of the weekend. Storm activity is expected Sunday afternoon, July 9 into Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service. An approaching cold front will bring a new line of showers and thunderstorms to the region. The projected time frame for storm activity is from late in the afternoon Tuesday, June 27 until late Tuesday evening, the National Weather Service says. Wet, Windy Mess: Storms Packed With Drenching Rain, Gusty Winds Sweeping Through Region
Separate storms accompanied by heavy rain and strong wind gusts will make the final weekend of April a wet mess. According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest rain from the first round of storms should wrap up by around midday Saturday, April 29 after dumping about an inch of precipitation to most of the region. A tropical rainstorm developing off the East Coast will put a damper on the region's second half of the weekend. A powerful storm system with heavy downpours and damaging winds could cause power outages at the start of the new workweek. The storm system arrives with showers and thunderstorms at around 11 p.m. Sunday, April 14.
