Firefighter Falls Through Floor While Battling Blaze At North Salem Home A firefighter fell through a floor during the response to a blaze at a Northern Westchester residence. The blaze began on Tuesday, Oct. 29 inside the laundry room at a North Salem home on Nash Road, according to the Croton Falls Fire Department.  Arriving fire crews soon began dousing the flames with hose lines and started making their way inside. However, while firefighters were battling the blaze inside, one member fell through the floor, prompting a mayday transmission.  The firefighter was soon found, though, and removed from the building with minor injuries. 4-Year-Old Found After Multi-Agency Search Near Ridgefield Border A 4-year-old boy who slipped away from his grandfather as he turned his back for a second was the focus of a large manhunt in the dark woods of a Northern Westchester town.  The incident took place around 5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30, in North Salem, off Hardscrabble Road.  The search for the autistic, non-verbal boy began when he disappeared within a second as he played in the backyard of his home with his grandfather and two brothers, said North Salem Police Officer Anthony Spennicchia. Longtime North Salem Highway Supervisor, Business Owner Dies Lifelong Northern Westchester County resident and longtime highway supervisor Drew Allan Outhouse died on Sunday, July 11, at the age of 73. Outhouse lived in North Salem and was a graduate of North Salem High School, according to his obituary. He worked as the highway superintendent for the Town of North Salem for 30 years, and he retired in 2009. Additionally, for more than 46 years, he was a member of the Croton Falls Fire Department. "He enjoyed cooking, gardening, listening to music and spending time at Brant Lake," his obituary reads. "However, his greatest passion and love was …
