Rabid Coyote Bites Worker In CT, Tries Attacking Others: Officials
A coyote that attacked a worker earlier this week in Connecticut has tested positive for rabies, state officials confirmed. The animal bit a United Concrete employee as he arrived at work on Main Street in Wallingford on Tuesday, Dec. 3, around 6:30 a.m. Other workers at the facility said the animal had tried to attack others, per WTNH. The man was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries and treated for rabies after the animal tested positive for the fatal disease. Moose Struck, Killed By Car On CT Highway
Days after state officials put out warning for drivers to be on the lookout for moose along the state's highways, one was hit and killed by a vehicle. The incident took place in New Haven County around 6:50 a.m., Wednesday, May 17 in North Haven on northbound Route 15 -- known as the Wilbur Cross Parkway -- near exit 63, said the Connecticut State Police. The driver of the vehicle was not injured but the moose was killed, state police said. There have been multiple new black bear sightings reported as the weather continues to warm up. The Westport Police Department said that on Monday, June 29, it received multiple reports of black bears making the rounds in the northern section of town. Police said that at least one bear cub and one large male bear were spotted by local residents. The bears were not acting aggressively, and seemed to be acting normally. Black Bear Caught On Camera Making Rounds In Norwalk For Second Sighting In Area In Two Days
There's been a sighting of black bear making the rounds in Fairfield County for the second straight day. Norwalk police are reporting that a young black bear was spotted on Thursday, May 23, in the East Rocks Road area, where he seems to be having fun exploring. On Wednesday, May 22, another sighting was reported in the yard of a Westport man in the area of 300 North Avenue and Tuck Lane. A Westport resident got a little fright when they encountered a black bear on their property. The sighting took place around 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, on North Avenue, said the Westport Police. Officers tracked the bear to the area of 300 North Avenue and Tuck Lane. The bear was not acting in an aggressive manner and was observed to be acting normally, police said.
