Longtime Greenwich Resident Scott Kiernan, Former NFL Player, Dies At 43 A former NFL player from the area who was a team captain at Syracuse University has died at age 43. Scott Weston Kiernan, who grew up in Greenwich, died suddenly on Thursday, Jan. 4 in Clermont, Florida. A cause of death was not released. A former Syracuse football offensive lineman, Kiernan, was well known as the player who co-captained the 1998 Big East champions, before moving on to play for the NFL, first with the New York Giants and the Carolina Panthers.
