'Predatory, Grooming Behavior' Leads To Firing Of Bethel HS Coach, Officials Say
A high school coach has been fired after a school district in Fairfield County received a "very serious report" from students before the Thanksgiving holiday. The assistant coach worked at Bethel High School, but was not an employee who worked in school buildings daily, according to officials. 2 Dead In Suspected Bethel Murder-Suicide
Yelling coming from a home in Northern Fairfield County led police to discover two people shot inside. The incident took place in Bethel around 11:50 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31 on Reservoir Street. The Bethel Police Department received a call about yelling coming from a home. When officers responded, they found a man and woman inside the home suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, said the Bethel Police Department. An accused sexual predator from Connecticut is behind bars without bail after allegedly sexually assaulting a child under the age of 11 years old in the Hudson Valley. Fairfield County resident Patrick Lynch, age 41, of Bethel, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 18 following an indictment for predatory sexual assault of a child, by an Orange County grand jury, said Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police. A man whose mother thought he committed suicide was the victim of a homicide, according to police. The unidentified 42-year-old man was found around 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 11, when a resident of Apollo Road, returned home and found her son dead, said the Bethel Police Department. A Bethel man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a woman to death at an area home. David MacDowell, 34, was arrested on Saturday, Aug. 24, after coming to the Bethel Police Department minutes after police had responded to a home on Plumtrees Road and discovered the woman suffering from several stab wounds, Bethel Police said. A 42-year-old man was arrested after a 10-year-old reported that the "babysitter" had allegedly sexually assaulted them. Nathan Shupp, of Bethel, was arrested around 4:45 p.m., Wednesday, Jully 17, by Bethel Police on an active warrant for sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, said the Bethel Police Department.
